"The partnership with eBay is an extraordinary breakthrough."

VIVAnews - State-run telecommunication company PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk (Telkom) and eBay signed a deal to seal a strategic partnership through plasa.com, Telkom's e-commerce website. According a research that Frost&Sullivan conducted, the total value of investment in e-commerce ecosystem in Indonesia last year reached approximately US$1 billion.

"It signals the huge potential of Indonesia's e-commerce market. However, the efforts to develop the market are not yet optimal that the Telkom and eBay deal will be perfect to work on the potential," said Telkom's President Director, Rinaldi Firmansyah, on Monday.

eBay Senior Vice President of Asia Pacific region, Jay Lee, said he believes the strong relations between Telkom and its customers in Indonesia will boost e-Commerce activities in the nation. The e-Commerce deal will significantly push the market share of small- and medium-sized enterprises.

The partnership helps revise Telkom portfolio from information and communication to TIME (Telkom Information, Media, and Edutainment). Rinaldi said the company's revenue increases as in 2011, the income from data, internet and other IT services rose 20.80 percent compared to 2010.

"The partnership with eBay is an extraordinary breakthrough for players on small- and medium-sized enterprises to set up businesses globally by using eBay's excellent platform," said Rinaldi
